Postdoctoral Positions in Water Research – Karlsruher Institute of Technology

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers who complement and strengthen the expertise of KIT in one of the following fields of water research:

– Aquatic Microbiology (in technical and/or natural systems)
– Alpine Water Research (i.e. ”snow hydrology“ or “water and energy balance in Alpine regions“)
– Eco-hydrology (i.e. ”interaction between abiotic and biotic factors in mass transport and degradation“ or ”ground water dependent ecosystems“)
– Atmospheric Water Cycle in the Mediterranean Region (i.e. ”natural and anthropogenic variability of the water cycle in the Mediterranean region“)

The two successful candidates will be member of the staff of one of the KIT water research institutes. The institute will be selected according to the thematic orientation of the specific candidate. In addition, the successful candidates will closely cooperate with other water research groups at KIT. In detail, the activities involve the following tasks:

– The successful candidates are expected to further develop their own research profile in one of the above-listed fields of water research and to establish a working group;
– Acquisition of external funding; in particular, funding for a “junior research group” is desirable;
–  It is expected that the candidates will present and discuss their results at national/international conferences and publish their results;

It is further desirable that the successful candidates contribute to the training of students.
